Directly owned by the central government of China, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Mechanization Sciences (CAAMS) is the biggest high-tech enterprise for supplying agricultural machinery technology for manufacturing plants as well as equipment for customers. Founded on Oct. 23 1956, CAAMS have been playing a very important role in the development of China's agricultural mechanization. Since her foundation, CAAMS have totally completed research and development work for more than 3000 agricultural equipment for Chinese government with 2188 having successful achievements. Based on these, over 2000 projects were finished and numerous farm machines supplied for the end users at the same time. Having 5 subsidiary companies and 7 incorporated companies now, CAAMS totally employ a staff of 2009 among which 1451 are intellectuals. As a total assets owner of RMB$543, 000, 000, CAAMS also hold 300, 000 square meters of building located in the lands of 3, 210, 000 square meters which are not included in the above mentioned total assets.

As a comprehensive academy, CAAMS was organized in the forms of 15 research institutes each working on a specialized area. Founded in 1976, Poultry and Livestock Equipment Research Institute (PLERI) of CAAMS have been engaging in the RD, consulting, technical service, production organization and marketing of equipment and engineering projects related to poultry and livestock raising. In the wake of China's Reform, Modern Agricultural Equipment Co. Ltd. (MAE) was formed by CAAMS and other 3 companies in 2001 with CAAMS having a share of 90%. Except for investing some capital, CAAMS also invested the assets of 5 research institutes and 1 manufacturing plant into MAE. PLERI are one of them and now renamed as Poultry and Livestock Equipment BU (PLEBU) of MAE. As a newly formed company, MAE are basically running the way that her biggest share holder CAAMS do. It features that their 8 speciality BUs are treated as profit centers with each working on one specialized area.
