As industrialization and population increase in settled areas, natural bodies of water become polluted caused often by municipal wastewater (sewage) and industrial pollutants. Contamination problems include excessive levels of phosphorus, ammonia, nitrite, bacteria and other harmful microorganisms in the water of lakes and ponds where increased turbidity and reduced oxygen availability occur. Over time, more and more sludge accumulates at the bottom and eventually all aqua/marine life dies off. In aquaculture, certain bodies of fresh or salt water are blocked off to raise water or marine based produce, this pollution-induced slow "dying process" of the bodies of water which are the main production platform obviously lowers both quality and productivity.
Conventional SolutionsWater purification equipment based on hydromechanics use brute force to lift water. They tend to use a lot of power but only offer a temporary remedy. Chemical wastewater treatment, whether based on flocculants or depollutants, introduces more chemicals into the water body and risks aggravating the problem after a temporary reprieve.
