Beijing Wondow Vegetable Capsule Co., Ltd, founded in 2011 and located in Yanqi Economic Development Zone, Huairou District, Beijing, is China's first and largest empty seaweed polysaccharides capsule manufacturer. Wondow has dedicated years of efforts to research, developing and innovation of seaweed polysaccharide capsules and related products. With introduction of advanced manufacturing facilities and adoption of modern biotechnology, Wondow has reached or approached advanced international level in the research and application of seaweed polysaccharide composite gel series products. These are the only domestic pharmaceutical excipient products whose main material is extracted from marine plants.

In 2005, Qinhuangdao Medical Capsule Co., Ltd, Wondow's subsidiary, obtained the drug registration approval of seaweed empty capsule product by State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA), and the relevant technique was granted the patent right by the State Intellectual Properties Office of the People's Republic of China (SIPO).

The seaweed capsule is made of seaweed polysaccharide gum and hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC).
