Wuhan Stars Modern Bio-engineering Co., LTD. is a high-new-tech enterprise jointly invested by Wuhan Stars & Universal Science and Technology Industry Co., LTD., Wuhan Institute of Virology of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Jiangsu Institute of Microbiology.

The Company located in Guannan Industrial Park of Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone, a state-level development zone, develops fermentation technology to produce natural Beta-Carotene, the only one reaching industrialization level throughout the world. It is a national key project listed in the Eighth Five-Year and Ninth Five-Year State Plans as key technology breakthrough and the State Torch Plan (1998), aiming at promoting naturalization and nationalization of Beta-Carotene. In November 2000 the Ministry of Science & Technology of China approved the project of industrialization of natural Beta-Carotene fermentation production listed it in the Ninth Five-Year State Plans, achievement of which was certified by Expert Inspection Group organized by CAS in Wuhan in December 2000. The team led by Ms. Zhang Shuzheng, a CAS academician, unanimously consented such industrialization level has reached the domestic leading level and techniques developed have reached international advanced level.

The Company, based on bio-technology, adhering to operation principle of "Develop new-high-tech, concern public health", invigorated by its spirit of "Dedicate itself to the nation with strivings and endeavors" and aiming itself at breaking up Beta-Carotene monopoly by overseas multinational enterprises, knows well of the responsibilities on its shoulder. As the first adopting fermentation to produce natural Beta-Carotene in China, we, with technology supports by Wuhan Institute of Virology of CAS and Jiangsu Institute of Microbiology and years of R&D, has obtained our own intellectual property right, and made a strict and scientific enterprise standard and produce natural Beta-Carotene tablet series of various types and concentration to meet market demand by referring to regulations of United States Food Chemical Codex, World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) and national standards (GB8821-88).
