Storage box product drawing description The part draft designs are provided by clients. Upon receiving the initial part designs or product samples from the client, we will examine the details, analyze the part design and plastic raw materials, and form a general concept of the appropriate mould structure. If the client requests us to produce a mould identical to the part sample, we can scan the part and complete the entire 3D drawing of the product. For a new product without a sample, when the client shares their design (both 2D and 3D formats are acceptable), if our engineers identify errors or inappropriate designs in certain positions, we will put forward our suggestions and assist the client in improving the product drawing.
Storage box mould 3D design Once the 3D designs of the parts are confirmed, we can initiate the 3D design of the dispenser mould. Prior to the 3D design of the mould, we need to know the specific shrinkage rate of the plastic raw material, the detailed specifications of the injection machine, and the detailed requirements for the standard parts of the mould. Our mould designers, with over 10 years of experience and extensive knowledge, are capable of creating complete and excellent mould designs featuring detailed ejector systems, cooling systems, and runner systems. The main structure of the mould is already conceived, and only some minor details need to be discussed with the client for modifications in the 3D design of the mould. For instance, components like limit switches and shot counters, which were not included in the initially submitted mould design. Therefore, to obtain the mould design quickly, it is advisable for the client to provide all detailed requirements in advance.
Storage box mould machining
1. Mould steel procurement Once the mould design is confirmed by the client, we can proceed with the purchase and cutting of the mould steel. The steel plates are cut by the steel supplier; we simply send the steel purchase order to them, with the detailed sizes of the steel and specific tooling requirements marked on the order sheet. Steel cutting is the first step in mould tooling and is carried out at the steel supplier's factory. Before the steel plates are delivered to our factory, we will inspect their hardness, as this helps verify the steel quality. Each type of steel has its own hardness level, and if the hardness matches the ordered steel, it indicates that the steel is exactly what was ordered. Our factory, Taizhou Xiongshi Plastic Mould, never uses counterfeit steel or steel of lower quality than quoted to manufacture moulds.
2. Storage box mould rough tooling For small dispenser part moulds, the primary rough tooling machine is the CNC milling machine. However, for some large part moulds, including bumper moulds, a machining centre is used as it can handle large moulds more quickly. After rough tooling, the moulds undergo precise tooling, including high-speed CNC milling and CNC engraving.
3. Storage box mould precise tooling Precise tooling encompasses CNC engraving, high-speed CNC milling, EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining), EDW (Electrical Discharge Wire-cutting), etc. CNC engraving is categorized into high-speed, medium-speed, and normal-speed types, with the precision level being high-speed > medium-speed > normal-speed. Thus, when parts require high precision, high-speed CNC engraving is necessary, and correspondingly, the cost of high-speed tooling is higher than that of medium-speed and normal-speed tooling. Therefore, the higher the tolerance requirements for part sizes, the higher the tooling cost. For some small and narrow features like ribs that cannot be directly machined by CNC engraving, we need to create electrodes and use EDM for mould machining. The main electrode materials are carbon and copper, with copper electrodes being more expensive but having a longer service life and greater durability. Hence, copper electrodes are used for EDM machining of extremely small sizes. EDW is also employed for machining small sizes, specifically those with a 0° angle in the straight direction. EDW includes slow-speed and high-speed types, differing from CNC milling and engraving. Slow-speed EDW achieves higher precision in machining sizes but comes at a higher cost.
4. Deep hole drilling tooling Typically, cooling lines and ejector pin holes are machined using deep hole drilling. Unlike normal drilling machines, which may produce non-straight holes, deep hole drilling is essential, especially for ejector pin holes, which cannot be machined by normal drilling machines. 5. Storage box mould polish After the completion of precise tooling, as well as the machining of cooling lines and ejector pin holes, the moulds can be assembled and polished. Automotive parts moulds require a highly glossy finish on the part surface, demanding a high level of polishing. Consequently, these moulds cannot be polished by machine but must be polished manually.
