Detailed:
The Trayton Group was founded in 1993 by Simon Lichtenberg in Shanghai, China. Initially the activities were aiming at import of Timber product to China. Presently, the group is mainly involved in four business lines:

In May 1994 the first deal was concluded - the sales of 5000 CBM of Round Logs from Ghana, West Africa to Nanyang Plywood Mill in Shanghai. The Shanghai Representative Office acted as an agent for a Hong Kong Trading House - Kam Lung Timbers. Since then, sale of African round logs has been the main business in the group's timber activities.

In October 1996, a company was established in Mauritius, for the purpose of running the fast growing timber trading business of the group.

In March 1998 an office was established in Bombay, India to expand the successful timber sale to the fast growing Indian market.

In 1996 a total of 290, 000 CBM of African round logs was sold to plywood mills and traders in China. In 1997 - 465, 000 CBM of round logs at a value of approx. 100 mill US$ has been sold to Chinese buyers.

Since August 1997 the business has been in the phase of restructuring. Trayton Timbers is no longer acting as agent only, but takes title of the goods and resells to the Chinese buyers. Since January 1998, the company started trading directly. In 1999 the trade volume exceeded 25, 000 CMB of timber products at a total value of more than 60 mill. US$.

The main buyers are: Shanghai Fortuna (Timber) Enterprise Co., Ltd., Shanghai Brilliant Timber Co., Ltd., and other plywood manufacturers in China.
