In 1924 in Frankfurt, Germany, Carl Press Sr. Founded deugro as "Deutsche Grosstransportgesellschaft" or, as literally translated, "German Heavy Transport".

From the outset, deugro specialized in just that: Over-dimensional and heavy cargoes. Under the leadership of Carl E. Press, who took over management of the company in 1968, deugro developed into a leading provider of international freight forwarding services, specializing in turnkey projects and complicated cargo moves to and from major industrial sectors located throughout the globe. Upon his retirement in 1998, deugro had become a truly global presence, with offices located in over 20 countries.

Today, deugro remains a privately held organization in the third generation, under the leadership of Thomas C. Press. Now in its 85th year of operation, deugro remains a highly specialized freight forwarder, offering a diversified portfolio of services that include air, sea and land transportation services, as well as supply chain management to a variety of clients located in every corner of the globe.

In 2009, management introduced a new company slogan, "Minds Over Matter", symbolizing that deugro's strength and competitive advantage still today lies in its most valuable resource: Its people. This, coupled with deugro's corporate philosophy to engender a close working relationship with the clients, forms the foundation that enables the organization to distinguish itself from its competitors and provides a platform for future growth, flexibility and superior service.
