NWRICI, founded in 1967, is an institute under former State Ministry of Chemical Industry, Shaanxi Provincial Hi-Tech Enterprise, sponsor of Shaanxi Provincial Engineering and Research Centre for Coal Chemistry, member of Catalysis Society under Chinese Chemical Society, certified by ISO9001: 2000. R & D aspects of the institute include coal chemistry, catalysis (catalysts or sorbents), fine chemicals, advanced materials, environmental protection and agrochemicals, with eight institutes and canters, over thirty pilot or commercial plants, and eight affiliated companies. with an R & D team of over 400 researchers, including dozens of State Key Experts with State Council Special Allowance. NWRICI has accomplished great number of R & D tasks from ministerial, provincial and municipal level, with commercialization of much of the R & D achievements. NWRICI is also the sponsor of Chinese Journal Industrial Catalysis, one of the State Key Periodicals for Science and Technology.

Its Catalysts subsidiary mainly engaged in the research of catalysis-purifying- adsorption technology & process and the products' production & Sales with annual output of over 6000 tons of more than 60 kinds of catalysts & adsorbents, including Hydro-conversion Series Catalysts, Desulfurization Series Sorbents, Dearsenic Series Sorbents, Dechlorination Series Sorbents, Deoxidation Series Catalysts, Dehydrogena -tion Series Catalysts, Shift Series Catalysts, Methanol Synthesis Catalysts, Methana -tion Series Catalysts, and other kinds of Series Catalysts & Adsorbents. Products are applied in many petro-chemical factories & subsidiaries of SINOPEC, PetroChina, CNOOC, other companies, and exported to Hong Kong, Taiwan, Asia, Europe, America, Middle East, and other many regions and countries.
