From what was literally a one-man operation started in a garage in Los Angeles, Kane opened for business in 1957. The company's first products consisted of hardlines including, scissors and knives, fueling the company's initial success. Many of the first people whom Kane hired remain at the company today, still a part of the Kane family almost 50 years later. Kane soon outgrew its modest birthplace. In it's first decade of operation, no fewer than three moves were required to accommodate the booming business.
