Ophiopogon japonicus is the root tuber of the lily family plant Ophiopogon japonicus. The root tuber is spindle shaped, with enlarged granules, slightly pointed ends, and a small central column. Surface light yellow white, glossy, with fine longitudinal lines. The cross-section is milky white, semi transparent, and flexible in texture. Fragrant, chewy and sticky, sweet, slightly bitter, and slightly cold.
