I. Introduction to Steel-Bonded Carbide
Steel-bonded carbide is a composite material consisting of an alloy steel matrix uniformly distributed with 30-50% hard particles. It is produced through powder metallurgy methods and forged, combining the high hardness and wear resistance of cemented carbide with the cold and hot workability of alloy steel, such as forging, turning, milling, planning, grinding, and heat treatment.
Since its initial development in 1972, the Shandong Machinery Design Research Institute has successfully developed various models of steel-bonded carbide for both cold and hot applications, achieving large-scale production. As a processable material with high toughness and wear resistance, it has been widely applied in various compression molds, drawing dies, blanking dies, extrusion dies, shaping dies, forging dies, and various wear-resistant parts. Its service life is ten times or even dozens of times longer than that of conventional tool and die steels, yielding remarkable economic benefits.

Steel-bonded carbide combines the advantages of both steel and conventional cemented carbide, finding widespread applications in stretching, cold stamping, cold heading, forming, and other fields.
According to practical uses, it can be categorized into:

Molds: Various compression molds, drawing dies, blanking dies, extrusion dies, shaping dies, forging dies, as well as molds for cold heading, cold stamping, forming, drawing, cutting, blanking, cold extrusion, printing, hot heading, hot stamping, die-casting, etc. Additionally, it is used in rolling tools, grinding tools, rolls, guide rolls, drill bushes, piercing points, nozzles, thread rolling plates, boring bars, etc.

Measuring, clamping, fixtures, gauges, calipers, block gauges, plug gauges, precision measuring instruments (pneumatic gauges), and various fixtures.

Wear-resistant parts and machine parts: Various wear-resistant parts for powder equipment, such as hammers, bearings, gas bearings, high-temperature bearing parts, valve parts, rotor engine scrapers, sealing rings for various pumps and other mechanical seals, various parts for aircraft, medical device parts, etc.
