Section 1 I. Definition of International Logistics
International logistics (IL) is the activity of organizing the flow and transfer of raw materials, work-in-process, semi-finished products, and finished products between countries. It is relative to domestic logistics, and refers to logistics conducted between different countries. It is an extension and further expansion of domestic logistics, crossing national borders and expanding the scope of circulation; it is also called international large-scale circulation or large-scale logistics.
II. International Logistics in Broad and Narrow Senses
Broadly: The inflow and outflow of goods of all forms between countries. Narrowly: Logistics activities related to a country's import and export trade.
III. Overall Goals of International Logistics
To serve international trade and transnational operations, to connect the logistics systems of different countries, and to maximize the overall efficiency of the international logistics system.
