Normally these include product consistency, quality acceptability, target price, leadtime and production capacity.

For new suppliers, we usually would visit their factory to make our own assessment before updating our clients. If product development is required, we will coordinate with the factory on behalf of our client. After an order has been finalised, regular follow-up is made with the factory on the progress of the order. Where required, we will conduct adhoc in-process inspections. A final inspection is done before the finished goods are shipped. We continue to follow up with the supplier for relevant shipping information to keep our client updated after a shipment has been effected.

All the above can be done by our clients and suppliers without our involvement but often, with much frustration. Finding for products and suppliers is easy these days with the internet. Yet there are inherent dangers of receiving products of substandard quality and/or incorrect specifications. Much expenses and time are incurred should clients make regular visits to this region. On top of this, miscommunications due to language and mindset are very common.
