The Station conducts compulsory pilotage to foreign vessels entering and leaving the harbor and accepts the applications from ocean and near sea companies and to provide them with pilotage service. The pilots of the Station have the ability to handle 3rd and 4th generation suuper-large container ships entering and leaving and swing round the ships in port in all weather conditions. They successfully handled 5th generation container ship "Luhe" with 5250 TEU entering Shanghai Harbor for her virgin voyage.
